History
Born second child to Lord Danvers and Lady Sara Lancaster Dhaval in 487, Ysabella has all of the calling cards of her precocious, passionate, charismatic bloodline and yet none of the illustrious credentials of her elder sister Cynara, having chosen a far more domestic path to tread than her well-known spitfire sibling.
Sweet, sensitive, always a daydreamer as a young girl, formal schooling proved difficult for Ysabella to wholly embrace, one subject after another encountered with lukewarm results as she waffled and drifted in indecision, unable to determine where it was that she felt compelled to focus her efforts. She was a constant frustration to her teachers, to whom her sharp intellect and creative abilities were apparent but impossible to harness. It was during this period of ennui and uncertainty that she met and then married her sweetheart, Edward Cordon, a man of common birth but uncommon brilliance with a talent for engineering. The pairing was by all accounts a perfect one; Ysabella discovered that her passions lie in more domestic directions and Edward's brilliance proved the conduit through which she could vicariously exercise her own acute mental faculties. Ysabella would bear him two children - Merit and Cassandra - and as Edward gained recognition in his field and the couple found themselves financially blessed, it seemed as though there was nowhere to go but up. In the years since Cynara's departure for Gateway the sisters have grown increasingly apart, owing not to any personal rifts or disagreements but instead the natural lapses that follow separation over long distances, a happy marriage, a busy life as a new mother and all of the attendant joys of family life.
Sadly, that was not to last. Tragedy finds its way into even the happiest of homes and stories. Ysabella arrives now in Gateway following an accident that caused the sudden deaths of not just her husband but also her two young children, ages two and ten months. Most of Gateway knows the story of Cynara Dhaval's kidnapping, her discovery of Providence, and now her rising star as a figure of some importance in the intrigues and activities of the Empire. The Dhaval family has sent their bereaved daughter to stay for a time with her elder sibling, no doubt in the hopes that she might take some of Cynara's faith, strength and experience in overcoming a personal crisis for herself, and find her way, with luck, to the place where healing begins.
