The Family Erastos
Family records are not kept by births and deaths among the Erastos, but by their contributions to Draught and the Empire. This is especially true in their early years where little is known of them. They are said to have originated in Tinkers Bench, drawn by the creative and intellectual community that was thriving there, helping to build and imagine and push forward the blossoming technology of the isle.

Sunburst in the background representing Illumination, with the blue waves seperating the roots of the Erastos family from the Northern Beaches of Tinker's Beach to the Southern Reaches of Codex. Twin gears for the mechanical side, with 'Eyes Wide Open' suggesting their openess to the combonation of faith and science.
History
It was the arrival of Thaddeus Erastos in Ethos to help in the construction that was growing around the Temple built in Grace City that helped establish the family in Ethos and in Purism. Thaddeus was the third son and a brilliant architect. Eager to make a name for himself and separate himself from his older siblings accomplishments, Thaddeus traveled to Ethos to accomplish this goal. He and his family settled in Grace and they began to hear more and more of Providence and Purism. It was Thaddeuss wife, Orena, that became a fervent worshipper and brought Thaddeus into the fold. While some others might find it difficult to balance Purism and invention, Thaddeus saw the spark of invention of something gifted to him, and others like him, by Providence as a means of helping his fellow man. Man is meant to progress, Thaddeus believed. Providence wants us to explore her world and improve it and it is through Her gifts that men and women develop the minds and are given the inspiration to create some of the most amazing tools, buildings, potions, and other gadgets that make life richer. Thaddeus and Orena taught this to their children and to this day it is an idea that the Erastos family holds dear.
The Erastos family has not forgotten their beginnings in Tinkers Bench. Many of the family return to Millers Isle to attend the university, as most are driven along paths of science and invention. But some chose alchemy or healing, preferring to work in areas of invention or innovation. The family has had close ties with the Soranus family, often called upon by the Baron whenever a new holy building needs to be designed or to debate on matters of faith and ingenuity. It was a member of the Erastos family that helped to create The Illuminated Society, hoping to push forward the idea that Faith and Science can stand side by side.
