Childhood on Mists

As the only girl in the Guybrush family, Serenity was doted upon by her father. Not necessarily spoiled, as the family just isn't like that, but she was certainly the apple of his eye. She doesn't know her elder brothers as well as the younger one, as they are several years older than her. However, this didn't stop them being incredibly overprotective of their little sister. Like her brothers, she was taught to fish, and enjoyed doing so with her father. She also enjoys riding and hunting, though her skill with hunting is limited.

At 13, she chose to focus on Elemental Water, fitting considering the bogs covering the land of Shadrach's Folly. Upon reaching Journeyman status, she chose to also study the flipside of water: Fire. She is still a beginner in this area, but working hard.

While she is yet single, she had, at one point, someone she wished to marry. It was a mage, much like herself. Her request for marriage was denied by Bailey, who was leading the Lordship at the time. This decision was backed up by Duncan, who has now assumed this leadership role. She doesn't like being told what she will and will not do. While she remains absolutely loyal to her brothers, there is some bit of grudge remaining over this. Since the denial of her request, she had dated no one, been linked to no one, and would hear no discussion of this changing.

History in Gateway

Serenity arrived on Gateway in July of 505, at the request of her brother. She came to gather information for him, as he had just been made Baron Regent of Dragon Lake, and there were some problems within the Barony, and for the Baron Regent himself, caused by the family feud between the Guybrush and Foresters on the Isle of Mists. After the return of her brother to Gateway, Serenity remained there with him and became his Chamberlain, answering missives and keeping things running smoothly while her brother was unavailable.

While she was spotted in the company of several men during the summer and fall of 505, there were no announced intentions for her hand, and no one she was truly linked with for certain. This all changed, however, in February of 506. Rumors began to swirl about just exactly what kind of relationship she had with her tutor, Lord Mezelien. It is rumored that he asked her to be his wife at the Everday Celebration on June of that year. She was seen about wearing a ring, but the betrothal was never announced publicly or given ducal degree.

No one is very clear on what happened that fall. Somehow, both Baron Regent Bailey Guybrush and Lord Shadrach's Folly, Duncan Guybrush, were found dead and mutilated outside of Folly Hall. Her two oldest brothers dead, it was simply more than the young lady could bear. She packed up the Baronial suite, had the things sent to the Folly, took the child Grace, and locked herself within Folly Hall for the rest of the fall and winter. She would accept no visitors and answer no missives.

Her return in March 507 was just as sudden as her departure. She was simply there, on Gateway once more, returning on a boat from Mists with guards wearing the colors of the Barony Smithfield. She wears only the black of mourning, and resides no longer within the Mistian baronial quarters. Rather, it is rumored she and her ward are staying with Cael Kilgannon, Baron of Smithfield. The return of Serenity did not bring about the return of her betrothed, Lord Mezelien. Indeed, the ring she once sported upon her hand is now gone.

Gateway Relations

Grace was discovered upon the beach outside Crossroads on November 505 A.G. by Serenity Guybrush, Lark Othermorn, and Lucian Acinthas. Attributed as one of the missing infants of the Order of Revivification, efforts to discover her surviving next-of-kin came to not. She was officially the ward of Lady of Shadrach's Folly. Though the Powers That Be would not allow Serenity to adopt the child and give her the Guybrush name, she considered the girl as no less than her daughter and was treated as any first born adorable niece would be. This loving relationship all came to an end October 23, 508 A.G. when the child died in the aftermath of the Great Schism along with many other young child mages. Their time together was all too short.
