Background
Petrova never knew her mother. The match between parents was carefully co-ordinated by the woman and members of the Order of Icarus, based upon documented knowledge of their bloodlines, the resultant offspring brought forth nine months later duly handed to the father to be raised as per agreement between the pair. Petrova was fortunate, her father took a great deal of interest in her, preparing her for the day when she would inhale the Breath of Imperius and embark on the first steps towards an illustrious career as a mage. She entered her formal period of early training, as most other Mistian childen, shortly before her fifth birthday and showed the early promise that had been hoped for. At the age of twelve, the family left their home in Midnight Lagoon, travelling to the capital city of Port Polaris in order for Petrova to enter the Academy at Fang of Imperius.
Progression was swift over the following years, the girl showing aptitude in the sphere of earth magic. It was upon this which her tutors decided she should concentrate, keen for her to develop that for which she showed a natural flair in favour of diversifying and adding another sphere, and their intuition proved correct. By focusing on earth alone, she quickly advanced and was taken under the wing of one of the High Mages for personal tutelage, accompanying him often to act as an assistant on trips to the more remote parts of Mists. It was during one of these trips that at the age of twenty three she disappeared. The High Mage returned alone, giving out only that Petrova had decided to stay within the region of Medusa's Graveyard to conduct private research. There is little, if any, documentation of this period of her life, a period that extended for a a good two years before she finally turned up back in Port Polaris. Along with returning to the Academy, she also became indoctrinated to the Order of Icarus, spending many long hours closeted within one of their chapter houses to work upon the tracing and monitoring of bloodlines.
At the age of twenty five she left Mists to come to the Isle of Gateway, primarily to extend her knowledge and further her own developing interests in the blending of her magic with that of art.
During investigations at Kraken Shoals in February 507, it was noted one day that Petrova had simply disappeared. Some say she was seen talking to a man of questionable standing, of money being exchanged. Some say there was talk of Medusa's Graveyard, missing people and getting the wonder back. Some say she was touched in the head, affected by the poisonous slime she had been working so closely with. Some say nothing.
"I want the wonder back again or I shall die." - D H Lawrence
Personality
Petrova has stepped beyond the giggling girlish mannerisms of younger women, finding satisfaction more in books and study than in the company of others. She is fairly quiet in personality, preferring to avoid the noise and tempo of larger crowds, being more at ease with just one or two others around. Whilst no extrovert, she is no shrinking violet either and will often hold forth on subjects dear to her heart, never shying away from speaking out for what she believes in. At times her mind seems to drift, a quietness coming over her. Some say it is a legacy of time spent away from home when she disappeared for two years, but perhaps it is just in her nature to be so.

| Facts and Trivia |
- Petrova journies to Mists twice a month. It is during her time there that she meets with her mentor, Gilde Laroque, one of her father's oldest friends and fellow Council Member of the Fang of Imperius Academy. Petrova and Gilde have a close mentor/pupil bond and will often spend days closeted in research, meditation and study. Gilde has visited Petrova on occasion in Gateway when visiting the Mogur on Academy matters.
- Petrova receives a more than generous allowance from her father to enable her studies to continue unabated. These monies are supplemented by the rather lucrative commissions for her statuary which she has undertaken of late; enough so as to almost make her independent of her father.
- Petrova is highly artistic, combining her earth skills and various mediums to create highly detailed statuettes and images. Having regarded it at first as purely for her own pleasure, she has lately been undertaking commissions for reputedly large amounts of coin.
- She disappeared for two years during her studies in Medusa's Graveyard. She doesn't talk much about this period of her life.
- Petrova doesn't drink alcohol.
- Petrova has a small tattoo on her right shoulderblade that is rumoured to be the crest of The Order of Icarus. Since this is mostly hidden by her clothing, it is hard to confirm whether or not this is true.
- About her neck she wears a pendant of darkest obsidian, an anonymous gift received in December 506.
