Nicodemos
Background
The story of Nicodemos Crowley begins several generations before his birth. The House of Crowley divided over a romantic feud between two brothers. The winner of the feud got the girl, but lost his claim to his name and his title. It happened such a long time ago that only few family members knew about their connection to the Crowley, or even cared. Nicodemos was born not knowing his family’s true heritage.
Nicodemos’ mother died in childbirth, so that left him in the care of his grand-uncle, Nicholas Takley. Nicholas Takley was a Master healer, but he was a terrible father figure. He was caught up in his work toomuch, and did not want to bother raising a child. He felt that Nicodemos would never amount to much, when it came to being a healer or an inventor, so he senthim off to Guardian to become a warrior. Nicodemos studied in Guardian most of his early life at the various schools. When he reach the age of 17, he became a guard with the hopes to one to become a Ducal guard. He was relentless n pursuit of justice, and even though Draught is not known for their dangerous criminals, he still tried to be involved in the most serious of offenses.
His work life was great, but his home life was terrible. As his grand-uncle aged, he got even more insulting and disrespectful to Nicodemos. When the Barriers were lifted, Nicodemos decided he had enough of his grand-father and Draught. He was able to stowaway on a ship that was capsized during a sea storm which left Nicodemos stranded at sea. He washed up on the shore of Maehdros. He was found by an elderly Maedrosian noble man named Taeron. Taeron thought he was Maehdros until Nicodemos regain enough strength to finally speak. Taeron contemplated killing him, but realize anyone who could survive being stranded at sea might be useful as a warrior, and If he did not, he could kill him latter.
As Nicodemos begin to learn the language of his new land, he also learn the ways of Maehdrosian warrior. It was a dangerous time, and he quickly learned that showing weakness was often met with severe consequences. By the time Maedros layed siege of Vistyr in 503, Nicodemos was a well respected soldier under Taeron. He took part in the atrocities that took place with the rest of Maehdros soldiers. He wasn’t’ sure if he did this out of his own survival, or because he surely enjoyed it. He just knew that he had strayed fall away from his life in Draught, even furtherthen when he was at school in Guardian learning to become a guard.
A few months after the battle of Vistyr,Taeron was killed and his title was assumed by his killer and his former general , Daequos. Nicodemos was forced to accept Daequos as his new lord. Daequos was not fond on Nicodemos and made sure he knew it. When Daequos led raiding parties, he took wagers with other crew members if Nicodemos would survived the battle. After a raid of Pais de Leuvier, Nicodemos had to kill two of his own crew members who wanted to make sure that Daequos won the battle. Nicodemos realized that his life was soon to be over, he decided to escape Maehdros. When the ship came close to Tolek, Nicodemos jumped overboard and fled into the jungle. He had lived in Maehdros for three years until making his way to Tolek. After a year in Tolek,where he spent time learning their fighting style, he made his way back to Gateway, where he spent the next two years working as a mercenary
He returned to Draught after hearing that his grand-uncle had died in a demon horse attack. When going through his grand-uncle papers, he discovered his connection to the Crowley family and presented himself to become the currect ruler of Elixir Vitae.

Trivia
Nicodemos is often whistling a lament, when he walks around the city. The lament is very old Guardian lament for the day called, “The Last Battle Cry”. Nicodemos prides himself over his combat mental prowess, and spends as much time sparring as he does reading different military books.
