Mogur Imperius

The Mogur Imperius is the chancellor of the Academy of Imperius and the head of the Mistian High Council, the Mogur is also recognized as having authority over all magic in the empire. Traditionally, he is also the most powerful mage in the empire, although unless his authority is challenged, he may never have to prove this point. His authority is contrasted with that of the Duke of Mists, who directs all activities on the Isle of Mists. This symbiotic relationship helps to increase the power of both individuals.
It should be noted that never has the Mogur Imperius been of noble rank. The reasons for this has been to balance the purposes of magic itself and to keep the decisions of the Mogur from being politically motivated.
While a Mogur's tenure is unlimited, and most either die in their post or retire after decades of service, the years since the 500th Anniversary celebration have seen an unusual turnover, with five Mogurs in as many years:
- Apr 500 - Feb 501 -- Aniel Eilian
- Feb 501 - Feb 502 -- Vacant, following Aniel's unexplained disappearance.
- Feb 502 - Jan 503 -- Azurios Erastothenes (The Blue Mage)
- Jan 503 - May 504 -- Elymas Borak
- May 504 - Aug 505 -- Davias Idramuse
- Aug 505 - Present -- Elisheva Spiros
