The Story

A Woman Reinvented
"I have been astonished that men could die martyrs for their religion - I have shudder'd at it. I shudder no more. I could be martyr'd for my religion. Love is my religion and I could die for that. I could die for you." - John Keats

The woman as she stands now is nothing like the child that once walked the corridors of court. Her flirtations replaced with cordial regard, her angry outbursts replaced with serene expressions and everything about her schooled and calm. Beauty still has a place in her world, but now it is a reserved beauty that seems to try to listen instead of talk. She's moved in different circles and the heart she once wore on her sleeve is now kept close to the bodice. It is rumored that her mother's death changed her in a manner, but it would not be completely true. For in truth, it was a different death in her life that robbed her of her so much and left her a bit shaken to the core. She's offered guidance without conditions and charity without favors. In all, she's been walking a more proper steps the year since her mother has died.

Rise From the Ashes

When one falls to the depths of their humanity there is only one way to go and that is to ascend. Isolde has not fixed all of her ways, but in the past year her colors have started to shed and her voice calm. One could craft this inspiration to her children as they age and she must be the lone guiding hand to their development. One could say that with age comes perspective. Though in truth there are whispers of other things. There are whispers of private meetings, of shared secrets and trust built with a person she will not name. One can state that as her intention of change, but whatever it is there are a few things of note. The Baroness is becoming more aware of her place in politics. She is a cunning and shrewd woman to be up against, some whisper it is better to befriend her than to stand against her. It is known that she has acquired favor of more than a few higher ups as well as more than a handful of the lower ones. It has become even more aware that the Baroness has changed in her mannerisms. She is less likely to raise her voice and more likely to foster an agenda that assists her own causes. There are claims of her having heard the voice of Providence and that Providence has shown herself to Isolde. Of course, truly such claims can be dismissed as well. She has been found offering her forgiveness with no seemingly goal in mind. Perhaps it is a time of change and perhaps the beautiful caged bird has gotten her feathers singed one too many times and arises now as the Phoenix.

The Tarnishing Fall of Draught's Golden Girl

Growing to a teenager, Isolde was the court romantic. She believed that the power of love was everything and in it anything was possible. She was a natural born optimist and it was during these years that she showed a great love of alchemy. She lived and breathed the science and could not get enough of any of it. She showed remarkable promise in being able to move through court with etiquette and grace. Her beauty was becoming more pronounced and her girlish crushes were becoming an extreme. It was nothing beyond the norm though, merely fluttering of lashes. Then everything changed.

Philip and Isolde took their relationship to the next step and in that lost perhaps everything they had. For one cannot step backwards once a line was crossed. There are many rumors and many witnesses to the fall of Isolde Claremont. When her parents forbid her from seeing the then Lord Barca, she did the unthinkable. She walked away from her title. There are those on Draught that sigh and think that she did it for love. Sometimes if one queries her, she might give the same answer.

They did not have a storybook relationship though. It turned bitter and ugly between the two of them. It also became on again and off again. It was her downwards spiral. During that time, something conspired between the Emperor and the Lady Isolde that no one is quite aware of and neither really talk of. Regardless, she found herself stripped of all title.

Philip and her seemed to rekindle things, him now being a Baron and her a commoner, they rekindled it long enough for her to get with child. Only that came out much differently. Isolde married Baron Erich Lieberman, who was not without his infamy, and secured herself as Baroness Destine. He died at his parents hands a month after the marriage and it was then known that the Baroness was with child. Only the child was not Baron Destine's but came out publicly as Baron Philip Barca.

The Golden Girl of Draught

It would be hard to say the road this girl's life would travel in her youth. She was the belle of the isle, the "golden girl" of Draught. As she was a child, she was unspoiled by the world and purity was perhaps her middle name. If she had a coin, she was giving it away. If someone remarked that they liked her hairpins, her necklace, etc; they would find themselves gifted with it. Her very being was that of a Draughten. Soft heart with a sharp mind towards academic. There was nothing she would rather do then study the various areas. It was rumored that she had a photographic memory and remembered almost everything she gazed upon. While quiet, she was very sweet in her love of people and place. She was also in this time the Marchioness of Draught, a very beloved Marchioness. She had a best friend in Philip Barca of Guardians since the age of four and life was completely blessed. There was no way of knowing and no foreshadowing how her life would change.

The Woman

Personality

Publicly, Isolde is trying to show she is no longer the girl she was seven years ago, and something that people won't let her forget; regardless if their crimes are worse than hers. She has cultivated how to hide her emotions and to keep up the appearances of cordial regard. In earlier years it has come off as a bit cold and made her appear a formidable and heartless enemy to make. The recent times, she's been making strives to let more of her private self shine through to the public visage; she still fails.

Privately, Isolde is passionate and heated. She speaks her mind be it in screams of annoyance or in whispers of heartbreak. She feels isolated from the world around her for the most part. When one is allowed in her inner being, she is flirtatious and funny with a practical joke streak a mile long. She displays her wit, either in humor or to cut to the quick. She speaks of her doubts and she sings of the successes. She is driven to see Draught and Destine become everything it should be and that she will fight with zealot dedication. Which sometimes leads her to be a bit single-mindedly focused.
