Isinglass Ortberg

He is only son to Nigel Ortberg. His mother is dead, having died in a carriage accident when he was fairly young. Nigel had other things to do and so has paid for Isinglass' education and living during his time on Draught, rarely mentioning his existence to others, since his trade is considered an embarrassment and his birth...questionable.

January 12, 504, Isinglass was named Imperial Chamberlain.

Isinglass Ortberg is Nigel Ortberg's only son, but the two of them could not be considered close. Strikingly similar in looks, they cannot deny each other, yet the younger Ortberg's choice to pursue art as a career has driven a nearly hopeless wedge between them. In the past, Isinglass was content to accept his father's bribes of allowance in order to remain in Draught, but now at 25 he cannot resist the drive to impress and somehow earn his father's acceptance and pride.

He is wildly eccentric and sometimes speaks in vaguely prophetic visions. He has no known magical abilities for such, but through the powers of observation his intuition is undeniably accurate, proving that he sees more about a person's true nature than the average man.

He has many friends, and makes them at almost every turn, yet he has had no known relationships since his time on Gateway. He sometimes may be heard to speak very vaguely of a love he lost, and frequently finds himself obsessed with people of a unique nature in the form of a muse. While such attachments are personal and may seem to harbor intimate feelings of love, the object of such obsession is usually never a romantic pursuit.
