Planning to come to the third annual Crossroads MUSH gather? You've come to the right place! This page will summarize what you need to know, some of the "house rules" we'll ask you to abide by, and let you notify the host and hostess of ways to prepare for your arrival that will make things flow much more smoothly.
When and where is the Gather?
We'll be hosting the Gather on the weekend of Friday June 5 through Monday June 8, 2009 at Avalon and Minion's house in Las Vegas, Nevada. Most out-of-town visitors will be arriving sometime Friday and leaving sometime Monday, although you're more than welcome to show up a day or two earlier and leave a day or two later.
What hotel should I stay at?
If you value privacy, comfort, maid service, and can afford all of the above, or if you're bringing a non-MUSH significant other wants to travel with you and gamble while you hobnob with your strange online friends, the closest hotel to the site of the gather, and a convenient pick-up spot for our local commuting folk, is the brand new Aliante Station.
If you are less concerned about privacy and comfort and want to attend on the cheap, you should crash at Av and Min's place. There will be plenty of beds, couches, and air mattresses to go around.
Specifically, we'll have at least 10 conventional mattresses, about another 10 air mattresses, and the occasional couch, not to mention floor. There may be a tent on the grass in the yard for the adventurous. If all else fails, several players live nearby and can provide more sleeping possibilities (or go home @night to make more room). This worked quite well last year; we had almost 30 attendees and still had extra beds.
Will my non-MUSH significant other be welcome?
Please carefully consider whether to bring someone to join our weird crowd who isn't really of the same mindset. While we won't turn anyone away, be aware that much awkwardness and some ugliness and angst has resulted centered around non-MUSH SO's at past gathers.
Should I get a rental car?
Only if it's a really cool convertible or stretch limo that we can all cruise the Strip in.
We'll have at least 6 cars among the folks who live here, plus a few more driving in, and we'll chauffeur anyone where they need to go (especially from/to the airport and local hotel).
How much does it cost?
We need everyone who attends to contribute $10 per person per day of attendance (and food consumption). This will cover expenses for food (one large home-cooked meal and many snacks) and (nonalcoholic) drinks. You are responsible for buying your own booze and any "eat out" treats (Buffalo Wild Wings and Sonic are popular destinations). It will greatly help our budgeting if you pay in advance. (If not, we'll hit you up the first day.)
How do I get there from the airport?
You let us know when you'll arrive and we'll make sure you get there. If you're driving, contact Avalon or Minion on-game for driving directions.
What should I bring?
- Yourself.
- A few days of clothing.
- Garb, if you have it. (If not, we'll share some.)
- A swimsuit if you plan on swimming.
- Spare change for gambling (if you choose)
- If driving, please bring any extra pillows/blankets you have.
Will there be Live Action Role Play (LARP)?
Yes. Oh, yes. Lots of it. Some attendees will probably LARP 24/7. Others might do so less often. But LARP is a central feature of all our gathers. There will be a GM'd plot explaining why we're all in one place, and at least one "large" GM'd scene involving some of our most loved/hated demonic characters.
No one will be forced to LARP, but it really is something many people enjoy during gather.
