“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.”

The Locke family is a relatively new force in the Political world of the Empire, however, their presence has been felt none the less, from within Miller's Isle and out. Ethan, the Eldest sibling of three that make up the current family, is, in all ways, the undisputed leader. Aside from being the Baron of Miller's Isle, he has proven himself a calculating, if not unemotional, figurehead.

His entrance into the city was not without intention. It was clear to anyone who spoke to him that he was after the Baronial seat vacated by the death of his cousins, the Lancasters. This straightforward approach to business and politics is something that would come to define the man, for better or for worse, for the rest of his career.

Though a driven demeanor defines him, Ethan isn't without a human side. There is no questioning his loyalty to his family. The man would do almost anything to see his sister, Avani, smile. And though his brother, Aksel, is about as far from him in personality as is possible, he will always be there is he's truly in trouble. They may bicker, but it's quite obvious that if you cross one Locke, you're bound to cross all three. Aside from family, Ethan's moral compass seems to point true for the larger things in life. If there is no reason to go against what is perceived as good, he will not. He is always willing to aid charities, and has a personal philosophy to work 'a step up' from his personal goals. Meaning, for example, if his eyes are on his Barony, he will try to make sure it benefits his Isle.

You can't leave a footprint that lasts if you're always walking on tiptoe.

Ethan's early legacy in the city of Gateway is a mixed bag. While he managed to secure and hold the Baronial Seat of Miller's Isle, there were many who questioned his leadership qualities. Politics never seemed to be his forte, and business seemed a place better suited for his mind. Politics, as he saw it, was a place for the safe and subtle dance of tit for tat. Even when he became betrothed to Emuishere Evans, many questioned the choice as foolish, up to the day she dissapeared.

Then, things changed. As much as the man himself may avoid the point, the Schism was the catalyst that brought Ethan forth into the realm of Court. Suddenly, the world seemed to need strong, direct decisions. For better or for worse, Ethan provided the best he could. From directing refugees, to using technology to help save farmlands on Green Fields. Ethan seemed to be everywhere, doing what he could to make sure the Empire persisted. He was noticed.

After a few months of hard work, when Unity approached, Ethan was chosen to receive a coin directly from Rourke. This coin represented the favor of the Emperor, and went a long way to solidifying the relationship between the two men. Though Ethan would never consider the Keeper a friend, it seems obvious there is a common respect shared between the pair. With coin in hand, Ethan didn't stop his hard work, shifting his attention to internal matters of his home Isle.

With the Port of Omenal destroyed, Tinker's Bench was chosen to house one in the interim. Working closely with the new Guildmistress, Ethan began to turn the area into a respectable port. This caused both applaud and worry among his fellow citizens, as some saw it as a power play against Destine, who formerly held the port. While this issue is still yet to be resolved, Ethan claims he has the best intent of the Isle in his mind, Destine included.

The true pinnacle of Ethan's Legacy came with the use of his Unity Coin. In asking for a second breech to be allowed in the Barrier, the man both offered amazing new economic opportunities to Draught, while making uncertain neighbors out of Guardians. His choice to keep this secret from even his own lieges until announcement has been criticized by many, however there are plenty who are able to see the reason behind his choice. Though this request is being considered, it has not yet been approved and implemented.
