Background
Descended from a magic tradition known for its harsh training methodology and strong following amongst a secretive and local order in Gryphon's Reach, Cyric is possessed of a hardened view on his role as a mage. His family, the Lyons, has held rigidly to the locally popular order and this has lead them into a position of influence in their region, despite the blood of nobility lacking in their veins. This heritage is what has kept Cyric so long in Gryphon's Reach and the Isle of Mists, a dedication to the advancement of his order and magic.
With his promotion in the order to a leadership position, not long after his attainment of master rank in his craft, his focus has broadened beyond the secluded lordship within which he has operated for most of his life. With only nominal appearances in Polaris Port at yearly gatherings of master ranked mages, he is a relative outsider to both ducal and national level politics. This remedial state of knowledge has spurred him to make the journey to the center of the political world on the isles, Gateway. A relative unknown on this greater stage, he is intent upon continuing his work for his order. The most apparent of these tasks is an understanding of the strength of magery in Gateway and those who perform it, the recruitment of those of sufficient mettle into his order and the accomplishment of those goals that are not so readily perceived.
