Gateway is an island empire. Four islands form a ring around a fifth central isle, the place where all ships must pass due to magical Currents. The entire nation is surrounded by a magical Barrier and ruled over by the Emperor, Providence's chosen Keeper of the Gateway. The future of the world of Ikol is charted in this land where shadowy legacies are still unfolding and shaping the lives of those who live here.
Crossroads MUSH is an original-themed, medieval fantasy role-playing game with a dedicated playerbase, friendly and helpful staff, and a world of mystery just waiting to be discovered. Magic, politics, intrigue, and ancient cultures collide in this human world, providing an immersive environment that has our players and staff hopelessly addicted. We value intelligent and grid-driving roleplay, well-rounded characters with flaws, and the contributions made by each individual player to enhance and grow our RP world.

| Recent Happenings and Events

- The Infection - A strange infection had recently spread through Gateway, keeping it under quarantine for almost a month. A cure had recently been found (and crafted through the dedication and hard work of Oksana Zakov) and it has been administered to those affected.
- A little less than two years after the death of Emperor Rourke Caprios and the installation of Imperial Regents Mihovil and Helena Pasternak, the young Crown Prince, Jordan Caprios, was crowned the next Emperor and Keeper of the Isles of Gateway on August 30, 511. The coronation was preceded by a few months of odd goings on in the Imperial tower, including the disappearance of Regent Mihovil and the seclusion of Regent Helena. At the coronation of the 10 year old prince, he announced the appointment of a man named Aristide Llafarge as Imperial Chancellor and the ambassador from Tyr, Victoria Strathclyde, as his Vice Chancellor. A number of other appointments were made as well, including new Imperial positions filled by citizens of Gateway.

| On August 31, 2006, Crossroads MUSH lost our friend and co-headwiz, Loki. There are not words to express how much her tragic loss has affected us all. The staff of Crossroads hereby dedicates our game to Loki, whose vision brought it forth from the æther and made it a home for so many people. Loki, you are missed. We love you.
