Shadows from the Past
Born in the capital city of Polaris Point on Mists, Bathsheba never knew her father and only knew her mother in a vague and passing manner. She has no known siblings, but could potentially have half-siblings.
She has a natural ease with magic and originally took to her studies well. At some point in her eighth year, however, she changed and her focus for magic changed. She studied with a single-minded determination when she bothered to do her studies at all, but her scholarship was intermittent and sporadic. She was known to vanish for days at a time, never revealing where she'd been or what she'd done.
She made it to beginner level and chose to study Illusion, again varying between big leaps of comprehension and long periods of lazy indifference. She continued to vanish for long periods without warning or explanation, but now she occasionally had a companion in her wanderings. Brendan Davenport became her fast friend, co-conspirator, and-- later-- inspired her to take up Transportation in addition to Illusion. He even encouraged her further in her studies, so that she learned faster for a while. Then, in her early twenties, he disappeared and she started vanishing for longer periods of time, once for several months.
Eventually she graduated to journeyman level, but her studies were done with indifference unless it furthered her growing interest in entertainment. She learned to dance, juggle, and tell a tale, directing her studies toward improving those talents.
At the age of 28, her mother died. Final tie with home severed, Bathsheba made her way toward Gateway for new challenges, new opportunities, and new audiences.
Associations
- Duke Raziel Devonshire spends time with the dark-skinned mage off and on; never enough for any real rumours, but often enough to warrant a mention.
- Addison Brandivere seems an unlikely friend, but there doesn't appear to be anything but respect between the two mages. Rumour has it Bathsheba even dared to chide the Duke for giving up on Addison so quickly, but if the rumour is true, nothing came of it.
- Athar Soranus is an almost exact foil to Bathsheba. Where he is a Purist noble, male, and austere, she is a Mistian common street performer, female, and flamboyant. The mage seems to take pleasure in tweaking this Purist's nose in particular, too.
- Bastien Arx is no friend, but the two are known to exchange barbs on occasion.
- Brendan Davenport was once her closest friend, but they haven't been seen in each other's company for more than a year.
- Card, according to rumour, fought a battle against demon-possessed creatures on Eclipse night. The same rumour has Bathsheba leaving that fight battered and wounded and escorted to her rooms by an unknown Legionnaire. If you ask Baths or Card, both are likely to deny the incident, and no one seems to be able to find the Legionnaire.
- Dag and Bathsheba have an unlikely friendship based on, as far as tales can tell, the occasional meeting in the public baths.
- Dyonith Zeloral has been known in the past to exchange flirtation with Bathsheba, although no rumour can say for certain how far the flirtation went.
- Iorwerth Crestwood brings a certain gleam to Bathsheba's eyes if she speaks of him, although it's more like a remembered treat than actual affection.
- Jaec Bandin has been seen in the dark mage's company once or twice, the two exchanging flirtatious remarks faster than the ear can follow.
- Lazarus Karaganinas is one of those rare men Bathsheba doesn't overtly flirt with... at least not often. They can be seen now and again sharing tea and conversation, but not a single stray rumour speaks of more.
- Leon Barca studiously avoids Bathsheba when he can, but there is a certain degree of friendship between the baron and the rogue mage. Bathsheba is known to call him her "Little Purist".
- Lily Thatcher once implied Bathsheba belonged in the Grin; after a bit of verbal sparring, Bathsheba was barred (temporarily) from entering the Isle of Ale.
- Linette Barca has somehow not yet killed Bathsheba and the two have even been known to have a civil, if stilted, conversation.
- Niamh Cavanagh was once so close to Bathsheba that a few of the less kind rumours hinted at more than friendship, but Bathsheba never speaks of her old friend now.
- Nicholas Labrec was involved in the same altercation that got Bathsheba tossed from the Isle of Ale. There is no love lost between these two now.
- Phaedrus Forester is one of the few men Bathsheba has dubbed too uninteresting to even try to bed. Unlike her distaste for the Baron Soranus or her respect for Lazarus Karaginanas, she only speaks of the Baron Landry with boredom.
- Phoebe Forester is an unlikely opponent for Bathsheba. While the commoner mage has indicated a certain respect for the Baroness's ability to stir up trouble, she also seems to seek every opportunity to stir trouble up for the blonde Forester in return.
- Tiege Soranus is the only Purist Bathsheba is known to speak of without a hint of mockery. She makes clear her respect for him, if not his religion.
- Veritas Marsters was Bathsheba's introduction into the Purist world and, by extention, her means of meeting both Leon and Tiege.
Were you left out and you truly feel you and Bathsheba have a connection (one that rumours, at least, would pick up on)? Not happy with what or how much was given here? Please contact the player in game and all shall be fixed.
