Tide Pool - Beach - Village
A semicircular ring of rocks forms a small cove near the eastern end of the beach. At low tide, the edges of the room are above water, forming a smooth rock bowl. The middle of the area forms a shallow pool of water, waist-high at the deepest point in which many fish have been trapped.
Fair weather clouds sail across the blue sky, propelled by light breezes from the west. It's warm in the sun, cool in the shade, and the air is clear and dry. The tide is low and ebbing.
Copper maneuvers carefully along the beach and the rocks, seeming to have to given her state of barefootedness, but her motions still retain a certain touch of elegance to them as she approaches closer to the two.
"Now comes the completely boring part, Khalani. This is where we get to sit around and snuggle until there is a tug on the line." Mathis says lazily, smirking at her as he leans against her. And it seems like they will be doing just that.
The time passes lazily at the high tide, the splash of waters against the rocks. Khalani would indeed, find it very very boring. That is, at the edge of the high tide, there is a sudden loud splash against the edge of the tide pool.
Lazy and boring and comfortable, the young pair are settled on the rocks, holding fishing poles and snuggled in together. Warm sun, lapping of waves on rocks, enough for a little nap, dozing lazily as time passes. A little start at the unexpected splash. "Un wha?"
There's another loud splash, enough for Mathis to be stirred awake. Stirred so much so that the young man loses his fishing pole to the tide pool. The young man considers going after the cane pole, but any such ideas are lost as the reason for the splashes make their presence. In a turmoil of froth, surf, and flailing, a large tuna is launched over the ocean side of the wall, landing with a large splash in the water. The tuna is wounded, but that is easy to pick out, considering the tentacles the size of mooring rope that is wrapped around the fish as it pulls in it's attacker.
At least five to seven meters long, what appears to be a giant squid is wrapped around the fish, trailing behind it is several more tentacles as it's multi-toothed maw opens. It's not a squid, after all, for those that you know, actually take the time to study it.
It's a baby Kraken.
Copper steps just a bit out of the crab's reach before the sudden fiasco erupts, bringing to her attention that she isn't alone and, beyond that, neither are the other two with her company excluded. Finding a steady spot to stand and watch, she casts her eyes towards the kraken, not taking long to figure it out, but it's safe to say she's not treading into the water if she doesn't have to, let along going anywhere near its grasp. Even a baby kraken can be deadly, as the poor tuna found out. A shame, it would've made a nice dinner. "Goodness, but that is a sight one doesn't see every day..."
Still half asleep, the fish and tenticles and splashing probably merging quite well with Khalani's dreams, she half screams in startlement. "Ahhh! What the!?" Now she's awake, and splashed and there's a /thing/ in the tidepool. She scrambles back on the rocks, they'd been sitting quite close to the water, in order to fish.
"Khalani!" Mathis squawks in panic, scrambling back on the rocks himself as the kraken and the tuna duel in the tide pool. The young man, being a Guardian at heart, is already grabbing for the spear he brought with him. Hey, this would be cool to kill, shush!
One of the eyes focus on the three people on the rock wall, and equate them with food. The tentacles flare out, trying to grab at them - or rather, jostle the rocks. The tentacle that slams into the wall near Copper ends up cutting itself, blood pooling around it as the beast lets out a roar of pain. One misses Mathis, smacking into the wall itself, as it flails around, trying to grab at the young man. The one that grabs for Khalani, however.. comes close. Real close. It comes close enough that it leaves a slimy kiss on her skirts, suckers popping where it tried to find a purchase on the young woman and failed in the fabric.
Copper turns to better watch what she's doing, eyes off the beast, as she scrambles for higher purchase outside of its reach. Shoot, and here she'd just acquired a new swimsuit to enjoy the pool as well. No accounting for the trials of nature, or the good fortune of a well-educated courtesan as she nimbly evades the tentacle that reaches for her, leaving it to gash itself open with the sharper rocks she passes. Glancing towards the two, she spies Khalani almost grabbed, "Hey! Are you alright over there?"
Khalani is not a Guardian at heart, she's a noblewoman, and a little one at that. Her best defense.. screaming and making the attempt to find purchase on the now slicked with wet rocks as she kicks her way backwards. The near miss has her spooked, wide eyed with fear. A few of the smaller rocks, loosened by the creature's slap of a tenticle tumble down as the little baroness tries to scoot further up, away. "Ahhhhh! Mat!" What, exactly, she expects her young companion to do is questionable. Copper's question goes unanswered for the moment, focussed instead on not getting completely grabbed.
What the heck does Khalani expect Mathis to do, indeed. At her panicked yell, Mathis only reacts out of fear - fear of losing her, fear of the situation - as he shoves the spear hard at the tentacle that dares to reach for Khalani. The spear pierces through the tentacle, cutting through the skin and suckers and pins it straight down into the rocks. The kraken squawls in pain, trapped tentacle thrashing wildly and 4 arms jutting at the young man and baroness as Mathis looks towards Copper. "Lani, get to the woman and get out of here!"
The rocks between the young couple and courtesan are sharp and slippery, made worse as the kraken thrashes and roars, the tuna forgotten about for the moment as the creature finds itself under attack from a la.. smaller, but more dangerous threat? Really. They are more dangerous. I promise.
The four arms lash out, three of them.. not at Mathis or Khalani at all, but at the easier prey that didn't attack him, Copper! Two of the arms lash around, but one of them reaches out and grabs a firm hold towards her. Oops.
Another arm lashes out and slams into Khalani, attempting to knock her off of the tidal wall, to either stun her for later, or force her into the water to drown her. Apparently, it's deemed Mathis too tough to try to kill.
Copper scrambles on hands and feet for the best and highest purchase she can, while as well making her way in the general direction of the other two, if not away form them as she climbs higher, looking back to keep an eye on them and to check just where the monster happens to be prowling about, and as she manages to avoid the tentacles by some stroke of luck, her eyes fall against to Khalani who doesn't seem so lucky, "Your Excellency! Move, climb higher! It'll have trouble reaching this hi-" and she's cut off as a third tentacle grabs her, and leaves her clinging to the rocks with all the strength she can muster in her arms and hands to keep from being pulled away, as if that'll be so easy anyways, "AIIIEEEEEE!"
It's a good theory, climbing up, up and away from the nasty monster that is trying to make mincemeat of all three of them. Khalani isn't paying a bit of attention to sharp rocks at the moment, she'll regret that later with her skinned hands and knees, but for the moment, she's just trying to get away. It makes more sense to roll over, to climb forwards rather than scrabbling backwards, and she's reaching up to grab for rocks to get closer to Copper. That theory of higher is better still seems sound, even while the courtesan is getting grabbed.
She's not even looking when one of the tenticles comes lashing out to slam her into the rocks, and slam it does. Her head rocks forward hard, her entire self getting slammed into a rock, knocking solidly into a stone. She's had the wind knocked out of her, and is more than a little stunned besides, nto moving for the moment.
The tentacle wrapped around Copper squeezes and squeezes hard, having a good, tight grip on the young woman. Usually, she may not complain too much about someone groping her chest, but when it's a large tentacle that is crushing her even harder than a bodice, cracking her ribs, threatening to crush her lungs and heart? Yeah, not much so.
With Khalani tempoarily stunned, the kraken is unaware of what he just did. Mathis's eyes flare as he sees his best beloved hurt so. His hand slings back, grabbing the sword from the sling - Gwyneth once said that Mathis is way too small for the weapons (which is what roll one was for). It seems to be with no effort that Mathis draws the long sword, easily as large as two-thirds of his body as he slashes as hard as he can at the tentacles grasping at Copper and the fresh blade - never used, only having it's first draw, effortlessly cuts through the tentacle like a hot knife through butter.
The Kraken screams it's displeasure, the other tentacle ripping away from the spear, filetted in pieces as it uses its remaining arms to force itself over the tidal pool wall and back to sea, retreating from the area.
Copper groans softly as she sets to her first concern, crawling her way out of the heavy, tightly-coiled tentacle pile, but she doesn't seem to be hurt on the surface, perhaps some internal bruising at worst. She only takes a moment to catch her breath before taking stock of the situation, and as soon as she notices the kraken has retreated, she starts moving down the rocks, a much easier task than climbing them, towards Khalani to check on her.
And just for the sake of aesthetics and cosmetics, she isn't wearing a bodice, so to speak, or her dress at all, but a two-piece swimsuit of modest design.
A rogue wave splashes over the rocks, drenching everyone within.
A swirl of blood appears in the water, then seems to disappear.
Nothing is hitting her, so Khalani just lays there for the moment. The tenticles didn't have nearly the grip on her, but the rocks were a most solid surface to be slammed into. A cut on her forehead is starting to bleed, and as with headwounds of any description.. it's making a helluva mess of the young woman's face. The wave is just insult to injury, quite literally, making certain Khalani is good and soaked.
The yell from Khalani earlier is finally drawing in the guard. "Healer!" Mathis barks as he looks towards Copper, the wave soaking him. "You alright?" he asks, dropping his sword as the young man drops to his knees next to Khalani. "Beloved?" the young man swallows. "...oh Providence, be okay.."
From the Beach, Making her way down to the beach from the plaza above, Anne pauses and gapes at... what /is/ that?! Looks like she was wrong about nothing being big enough to spear. That thing's /way/ too big to spear. She approaches the tide pool cautiously, watching to make sure that monster isn't returning.
Copper doesn't waste much time with words until she's scooped a bit of the water that splashes and settles near Khalani opposite Mathis, using the water to quickly if briefly clean her face and hair. Yeah, salt water on an open wound, but Copper goes with the figuring that the immediate pain will be more bearable than that later of cleaning dried and crusted blood out of one's hair. The wave probably got plenty in it anyways, and as soon as she can figure things are cleared a bit, she presses her hand to the wound to try and halt the bleeding, "I'm not healer, not to any degree, but I'd say she'll be fine once she comes too," she offers to Mathis, "...Though the way that thing was squeezing, I wish I could say the same of myself come evening."
From the Beach, Bella arrives from Keeper North. From the Beach, Bella has arrived. From the Beach, Helena arrives from Keeper North. From the Beach, Helena has arrived.
Tearing off part of his tunic, Mathis rolls it around his hand to lift. "...I have it, Mistress Copper, please relax." he says, watching the water warily, in case the creature returns. "We just came up here to relax.. and.. and.." he murmurs, pressing the cloth against Khalani's wound.
From the Beach, Bella comes rushing down the steps, with Helena and three guards close behind. The midwife is carrying a backpack slung over one shoulder. She looks around, trying to see where Mathis and Khalani might be. "Tidal Pool," she says to Helena, then rushes over, not waiting.
Still breathing is always a good sign, and Khalani is certainly doing that. The swish of water shows a pretty good bump on her head, and various scrapes and a good sized gash off to the side of her forehead. She's not out for long, stirring in the face of salt water in an open wound. "Ooooowwww."
From the Beach, Anne walks out to the tide pool. Anne walks out from the beach. From the Beach, Anne has left. Anne has arrived. From the Beach, Lily arrives from Keeper North. From the Beach, Lily has arrived.
From the Beach, Helena carries a bag as well and hurries after Bella, uncertain just what to expect. She nearly trips a couple of times until she finally lifts the hem of her gown enough that she isn't likely to need a healer herself. Her cheeks are flushed a bit from the run, but she's been able to keep up. She gives Bella a nod and continues to follow the other woman.
From the Beach, Bella walks out to the tide pool. Bella walks out from the beach. From the Beach, Bella has left. Bella has arrived. From the Beach, Helena walks out to the tide pool. Helena walks out from the beach. From the Beach, Helena has left. Helena has arrived.
Copper takes a sigh of relief, removing her hand so Mathis can tie the wound off, and using the water to wash her own hands. Despite it all, she's managed to avoid any surface injuries, and after the splash and a little hand-scrubbing one could hardly tell she was involved at all in what happened, save for a certain look of unease to her, "I am sure you did...I only came to have a peaceful place to swim in my new bathing outfit...I was not thinking to see a kraken so close to land..."
From the Beach, Lily walks out to the tide pool. Lily walks out from the beach. From the Beach, Lily has left. Lily has arrived.
Bella doesn't stop until she reaches Mathis and Khalani. She gives Copper a nod, then her eyes widen at the mention of a kraken. Turning to Khalani, she says, "How are you feeling, Khalani?" She slips her backpack off her shoulder and looks to Helena. "There should be everything you need in that bag you're carrying, Helena," she says. No time for formality now! "Mathis, what happened?"
"That was a kraken? Only looked like a giant squid to me." Mathis responds as he smiles a little at Khalani. "You know, love, when you said next time it would be your turn to go to the infirmary, I did not expect you meant this soon." he says with a worried smile.
Copper, Lani and Mat are sitting on a large rock on the edge of the tide pool. A large tentacle, cut cleanly away from the kraken is still flopping on the side of the pool, another shredded tentacle and half of a large tuna nearby.
Mathis looks up. "..Bella! Squids and it tried to get Copper and Lani.. I'm okay, but they're hurt!" Duh.
Helena looks around as Bella rushes to Khalani's side. She doesn't even flinch at the lack of formailty given, but the large tentacle certainly does give her pause. "Sweet Providence," she breathes as Bella gives some instruction. Hugging the bag to her she hurries towards the injured to assess the damage before she starts pulling things out of the bag.
Khalani is still laying on the rocks, her hands and knees all scratched up, but more concerning is the bump on her head, and the still bleeding gash that Mathis is holding some cloth against to try and get to stop. She's a little groggy, still half stunned. "Ow.. my head."
Lily heads right towards the group of people, a sack held over one shoulders as she makes her way quickly towards the pool. Most of the faces here are familiar and she has a concerned look on her face. She kneels down on the sand beside the injured and sets her bag down, beginning to pull it open. "Hold still, Lani," she tells her gently, looking over towards Copper while Bella examines Khalani. "Are you hurt?"
Copper looks up to the oncoming rush of people and rescue aide, and lowers her head, slowly pushing herself away and back from Khalani to give them room to work, "Do not worry about me. I think my ribs might have cracked, but I am well otherwise. Her Excellency is in need ot tending. I would be concerned for the bump she took when the tentacle lashed at her," she says to the oncomers, trying to be somewhat useful, despite a lack of expertise in the field. Common sense still has a lot to say, perhaps. "...It was a kraken though...no squid would be that brazen, and the look was somewhat distinctive."
Entering the tide pool, Anne makes her way over to the flopping tentacle and gently nudges the flopping thing with the toe of her boot. On the non-sucker side. Otherwise, she stays out of the way of the others as Khalani and Copper are tended to.
Bella sits back and lets Helena examine Khalani. She looks up as Lily comes in, and says, "Oh good, we could use your help." Moving towards Mathis, she gives him a reassuring smile. "Looks like she'll be fine, Mathis, don't worry," she says. She watches as Anne pushes the tentacle into the water, and frowns a little. "We probably should retrieve that."
"Forgive the lack of formalities.." Mathis murmurs, as he finally moves his hand out of the way to exposes the wound for Helena. "She is hardheaded." he murmurs fondly, voice unable to mask the worry as he leans in to whisper to Khalani.
Mathis whispers "You just got permission to court me formally, not allowed to die."
Helena doesn't look annoyed at the number of hands ready to help, in fact she looks relieved as Lily joins them. She looks up at Copper, not trusting the woman's words as her eyes roam over the woman, searching for injuries she's claiming aren't there. "What happened, exactly?" she asks to no one in particular as she opens the bag she's brought with her.
Lily nods lightly to Copper. "If you've cracked some ribs, we'll get them wrapped up," she assures her before looking back towards Lani, smiling softly at Bella. Her eyes flit back down to Lani and she leans down to examine the gash. "That probably hurts... Lani, I'm going to pour some water on it to clean it, okay? It shouldn't hurt, but it won't be comfortable. Are you dizzy? Nauseous?" She reaches into her bag and pulls out a canteen of water, offerring it to Bella if she wants to help.
"Stay." Mathis snaps at Copper. "I saw that hold that it had on you." the young man says with a frown. "We were relaxing next to the tidal pool and a large squ.. kraken.. a young one, I guess.. fell in the pool with a tuna.. and attacked us."
The tentacle rolls and flops as Anne nudges it, trying to wrap around her leg.
Copper waves a hand at Helena, trying to dissuade any concerns she has, "I swear, I am fine and well...I was lucky. A tentacle grabbed me, and was trying to suffocate me when Mathis sliced it clean from the beast," she explains, wincing a little as she tries to chuckle, "Heh, heh...felt like every bone in my torso was cracking for a bit there though, and it was all I Could do to keep hold of those slippery rocks...but I wasn't cut or anything. Promise."
Khalani slowly works on sitting up, reaching a hand up to hold her head as she does. "I feel as if I got hit by a brick wall." She closes her eyes and nods a little to Lily. "Dizzy yes. Not nauseous exactly. Cold. Everything hurts." She holds still for Lily though, to let the healer clean out the wound.
"Huh. Interesting." Anne comments to herself as she hurriedly steps back from the over-friendly tentacle. "How long's it going to take to die...?" Of course, she doesn't expect to get an answer from anyone. Shaking her head, she looks over now to watch the others.
Bella accepts the canteen from Lily, and she takes out a clean cloth from her own bag, wetting it and starting to dab gently at Khalani's wound, while Lily continues her examination. "Take it easy, Khalani," as the young girl tries to sit up.
Helena frowns a little as she hears the story Mathis tells and then the assurances from Cooper. She rises from Khalani's side (it is quite crowded there) and moves towards Copper. The woman's wave off doesn't seem to be working. "Can I check, just to make certain?" she asks Copper, trying to sound as gentle as possible. Sadly her voice lacks a good deal of warmth but she tries. "You might not feel it now, but if any of your ribs are cracked you will soon. Best to see to it right away," she tells Copper.
Sitting down next to Khalani, Mathis takes her off hand in his, letting the healers have room, but turnabout being fair play, he is not leaving her side. He watches the others work as he blows out a breath, the adrenaline rolling out of him.
Copper nods and coughs a bit, before slowly and carefully just laying back for Helena to let her inspect and do as she wishes, finding herself unable to argue with that logic she drives at her. Fortunately, her swimsuit makes it easy to check her, so Helena will at least have no trouble with whatever she needs to work at. "I know I'll likely be in trouble later for it, but...it's nothing I haven't dealt with before...though in smaller doses. I just hope the waters are filled with sharks to take down that beast while it's injured and weak...serve the beast right for this."
Lily moves behind Khalani as Mathis moves to her side, getting a better view of the wound and supporting the other girl upright if she needs it. "Thanks," she tells Bella, looking at the wound as it's cleared. "Let's wrap that up for now. We can stitch it up when we're off the beach. I assume you can still feel your fingers and toes? The chill isn't too surprising. We'll get you warmed up." She pulls out a pad of cloth from her bag and places it firmly against the wound as Bella finishes cleaning it. Then she takes a bandage and wraps it snugly around Lani's head to hold everything in place. "Aside from everything being achey, is there anything else that hurts exceptionally so?"
Helena moves closer to Copper and gently rests her hands against the other woman's midsection. Her touch is light with the occasional press against her ribs. Her eyes, however, watch Copper's face, looking for reactions that might betray the woman's words. "Let me know if any of this hurts," she says as her fingers move slowly, pressing every few inches to search for sore and tender areas.
Bella lets Lily tend the head wound, and she starts to examine Khalani's hands and arms at first. "We should move them as soon as we tend Khalani's head wound, and bind the other woman's ribs," she says. She gives Helena a warm, encouraging smile as she sees her taking care of Copper. Turning to Mathis, she says, "Do you two LIKE the infirmary?"
Khalani leans on Lily, starting to rethink the sitting up plan now that she's done it. She wiggles fingers, wiggles toes and gives a little nod. "I can feel them, yes. My hands hurt.. and my knees hurt. My shoulder hurts." She winces as she moves it, testing to see if it's as painful as she thinks. Her plans and knees are all skinned from the rocks, but painful mostly from the salt water in the shallow scrapes.
Copper doesn't have to verbalize it if Helena is watching her face, every press on her ribs drawing a short gasp of breath and a tight wince, but she's a trooper, almost seeming trained in not reacting below the neck, her arms and legs showing only the faintest twitching to betray a desire to move away from the poking and prodding, "It...hurts, but...I'll be fine...I can't walk around bandaged up or anything...if there's any other solution I'd be for it...but I'd rather endure Lady Ravelle's endless speeches on how bad my career choice is before wearing something so unsightly..."
Lily grins over at Bella as she mentions the infirmary. "Well they're sore because you scraped them good," she tells her, brushing Lani's forehead with her fingertips as she leans back. "The infirmary is an option if you want to go there. If you would rather not, we can take you back to your room and take care of you there." She looks over towards Mathis. "A hot bath will help with the aches and pains," she tells him. Her head cranes slightly to look towards Copper. "You should stay off your feet for a couple days, and don't wear any tight clothing. If you do, you could injure yourself further."
Helena's fingers pause as the woman speaks and her eyes grow a bit cold. "The Lady Ravelle is my beloved sister," is all she says before she resumes pressing against the woman's ribs. She is thorough in her examination, moving from one side to the next and frowning with each wince the woman gives. "Yes, I can see that you are quite fine," she offers dryly as she moves to grab for her bag, looking for something to bind the woman's ribs. "You will need to wear this or you will only make yourself worse," Helena informs Copper before asking the obvious question. "What job would restrict you from healing yourself properly? You could wear this under your clothing," is added.
Bella cleans Khalani's scraped hands, then examines her shoulder to see if it's popped out of its socket or if the rotator cuff has been torn. Helena would find whatever she needs in that medical bag, including herbs, ointments and potions. Overhearing Copper and Helena, she cringes a little, to herself.
Mathis nods to Lily. "Alright." he says with a small frown as he squeezes Khalani's hand. "Are you still dizzy?" he asks, holding up three fingers to her. "How many fingers am I holding up?"
Copper smiles a bit as the poking stops, taking a shallow breath, several even, to enjoy the relaxing comfort that spreads from the lack of prodding. "I did not mean ill of Ravelle...I would count her among the most intriguing and interesting people I've ever met, actually...and one I'd be glad to call friend if she permitted it...I only meant she is insatiably curious...I would have no trouble being still if she sat me down for a round of twenty questions," she explains, "I met her two days ago, and Lord Athar yesterday, briefly..." she seems a bit delighted to be getting to know the family, in however roundabout, random, and unflattering the circumstances may be. "But...I am a courtesan...bandages and loose clothing will make it harder to perform my duties. A courtesan who can not work does not earn her keep...and is useless."
"What?" Khalani's not following conversations very well, only really catching the most recent of questions. "Dizzy and cold. I just want to go home. Can I go home now?" She squints at Mathis' fingers. "Why are you waving fingers at me, love?" She ows softly at Bella's examination of her shoulder, it doesnt feel out of place, probably got cracked against the rocks along with her head.
"Infirmary?" Mathis waxes the rhetorical, looking to Bella. "Am I correct?"
Helena doesn't seem to be listening to Copper, at least where her treatment is concerned. "And a courtesan who cannot be touched without wincing isn't going to find herself too popular," Helena shoots back as she looks up at Copper, bindings in hand. She doesn't even blink at the woman's job, she is simply focused on the healing. Lectures, if there are any, will have to come later. "I am sure that my sister would be delighted to have a chance to sit down some time and speak with you at length." At that Helena reveals the smallest of smiles, done with tight thin lips. "As would I, but that is for another time," she adds as she motions for Copper to sit up if she can. "This will be best for you in the long run, I promise you," she adds, again trying to sound gentle and comforting.
Bella gets a sling out of her backpack, and binds up the shoulder with some long cloth, before putting the sling around Khalani's neck. Situating her arm in it, she says, "You should keep that immobile for a few days. And we'll put some ice on it when we get you home." She looks over to Mathis, and says, "The healer says we can take her to her room. I agree, she'll be more comfortable there."
Lily smiles over at Bella and looks over towards Mathis. "She's scraped up and has a bump on her head," she tells him, gently brushing Lani's hair with her fingers to calm the other girl. "I can stitch it up in her room and a hot bath will help her relax and ease the aches. I have some salves and balms which can dull the pain and make her comfortable. Nothing is life-threatening."
Mathis looks to Lily, as if about to protest, then nods. "Very well, if that's all it will take." he says, a frown creasing his features as he rises to his feet, worry reflected in his eyes. "...okay to stand, dearest? Or may I support you?"
Copper takes a second to catch a couple more breaths before sucking a bigger breath in and holding it as she pulls herself up into a sitting position and then exhales, "I...suppose a couple days of this will not be so bad...I lose the biggest part of my income, but I can focus..." she smiles, "...on the finer points of my career...the parts I wish people associated more with it anyways," she looks over at Helena, her smile broad, if not seeming a bit forced, "Right?"
And at Mathis' words, Bella's guards and Helena guard are called over. "Help carry Baroness Amphorae and... this other lady to the palace," she says, "When the healers are done with them." She then stands up, gathering her backpack and standing back. She gives Copper a tender smile as she catches the last comment to Helena. "I'm sure you will be fine, and be able to resume your work soon, Mistress."
Khalani closes her eyes again as Bella slings up her arm. "I just want to go home. Can I go home now?" She's letting the conversations just go on around her, leaning against whoever's close enough to be leaned on. "I don't feel very well."
The smile is not returned, but then again Helena isn't one for big expressions of any sort. She nods absently and begins to bind the woman's ribs. Her work is as gentle as she can manage, but it might hurt a little. "Try not to do any more than you have to for the next couple of days," she advises, glancing up at Cooper. "And try not to do anything too exciting. You don't need to get winded," she adds as she secures the binding. "And," she adds, looking back up at Copper once she's finished. "I would like to speak with you sometime. And I promise, no lectures or sermons."
Helping Khalani up, Mathis allows the baroness to lean on him, looking at the guards as they come over. "...Lani? Are you okay to walk.. or do you want to be carried?" he asks her. Then takes the decision out of her hands anyway as the guards come over to help her by lifting the petite baroness. "...Miss Lily, I assume you are coming with us?"
Lily pushes herself up onto her feet and brushes off some of the sand, making sure Khalani is steady before scooping up her bag. "Oh yes, I plan to come with you," she tells Mathis, shouldering the bag and motioning him to lead the way.
"Excellency.. m'lady.. thank you for coming so promptly." Mathis says to Bella and Helena, as he kneels down next to Miss Copper for a moment, and squeezes her hand, offering a small smile. "You get well soon, okay?" he asks with a smile as he rises to his feet, moving to lead the guards back to the suite.
Bella smiles warmly at Khalani and Mathis. "I'll leave you in her capable hands," she says, motioning to Lily. "I'll come by later to check on you." She then goes over to where Copper and Helena are. "How are you doing, Mistress?" she asks to Copper. "Do you want help getting back to your rooms?" There is an extra guard to help, after all.
