IC Date: February 1, 505 A.G.
Players: Phailin, Mathis
Location: Piles of Petals Flower Shop, Plaza of the Keeper East

There's not a lot of people who would brave the elements but even if there is not Lin does indeed have her shop open. She's kneeling down and taking a closer look at a bloom to see if it will live or die, a look on her face as she judges it.

Some people are willing to brave the weather - especially for their loved ones. One of those people enters the shop as Mathis opens the door to the shop, stomping the snow off as he looks around the shop, giving a slow whistle as he blows a warm breath into his mittens. "Wow, nice shop." he says with a broad smile. "Uhm, milady Forester, are you in?"

Phailin looks up from what she's doing when she hears the door open and the gush of coldness that follows soon after. Rising from her position she straigtens to get a better look at Mathis. Quick smile seen. "Ah hello there, Master Cardriff. Come to get those flowers we talked about the other night have you?" So yes, she is indeed in.

Swift to smile, swifter to offer a small blush as Phailin addresses him and the young man offers a bow of his head as Mathis just grins. "...yes, milady. You said you had some ideas on what Khalani.. uhm.. I mean Baroness Amphorae may enjoy?" he asks, tilting his head slightly to look up at the florist.

"I was figureing that with this coldness inflicting on us I would imagine she'd like something bright and a reminder that spring will be here before we know it?" Lin muses aloud and shares her thoughts with the young man. "Can you tell me what her favorite colors are perhaps?" She begins to move over to a corner where some of the brighter colors of flowers are displayed, a hand cradling a sunflower. She's no mage but she does have a means to get things to bloom even when they should not.

"Well, you know she likes red.. like her hair." Mathis says, leaning on the counter in thought, taking the time to sniff at a few various flowers here or there curiously. "...and greens, and blues.." he ponders. "I picked her a batch of wildflowers once, before you know.. I thought about buying her any. She really liked the yellows and blues.."

Phailin gives a nod to indicate she is listening as she walks about her shop. She starts to pull out certain flowers here and there and than stops short, "Do you want to still do wildflowers for her or something a bit personal?"

"A bit more personal." Mathis says, chuckling. "And possibly a bit more than that.." the young man admits quietly. "We're not really courting, not yet, at least.. I mean, we need Duchess Draught's permission - but something along those lines?" he asks, looking towards Phailin. "I-If that makes a lick of sense?"

"Yes of course." Lin smiles in his direction. "This will take a few minutes but I think I have something in mind." She continues in her walk than, grabbing certain blooms as she makes the walk about.

There's a pause as Mathis wonders if he's stumbled just a little too much, settling back to watch the florist as she works, paying attention to the flowers she's grabbing as she goes about her business. The young man shifts his hands to his pockets, feeling around for his coinage to make sure he has enough to pay for the flowers.

As Lin walks about she has pulled out red carnations, red chrysanthemums, blue forget me nots, yellow gorses, blue morning glories, red poppies, yellow tulips and finally ending with thornless red and white roses. She's got a good bundle. It doesn't mean she'll use all the flowers she picked out but she's got a good selection remembering the colors he had said that the baroness had liked. She walks back to the counter and places the flowers down. "All these flowers have a certain meaning." She explains as she looks in his direction, "I also tried to stay with the color scheme you had just spoke of. So from this pile pick the ones you favor and we will go from there?"

Mathis blinks. "...different meanings?" he asks as the young man starts to shift around the flowers, taking out a couple of the forget me nots and a gorse, pausing as he looks at the tulips and roses. "I thought flowers were just pretty." he says in mild confusion as he looks back towards Phailin.

Phailin chuckles when she hears that. "Oh of course flowers are pretty." Giving a nod for that. "But I've made a point to study flowers and what they mean so they can be a bit more personal in the giving." She looks over at the forget me nots and gorse. "For example forget me nots mean true love and that gorse it means love in all seasons." She sees the look given to the tulips and roses and goes on in the explaining. "Red tulips are a declaration of love, and those roses because they are thornless means love at first sight, red and white roses mean unity."

"Oh, I see." Mathis says, then chuckles. "..well, it wasn't really love at first sight, she actually turned me down." he admits with a laugh. Then he shakes his head. "She found out she liked me back later.. so, uhm.. the red and white together may be better." he comments as he sets aside the flowers pointed out. "Wow, you really know your flowers." says the boy to the florist.

"I do." Lin agrees. "I really do enjoy planting them and watching them grow. I knew there had to be more than just thinking they are pretty. So you want the red and white roses?" Looking over at the bundle that she brought forth bringing out the red and white roses as she talks. "Will that be all or did you want to add the gorse? That gives you the yellow." Looking over for a blue that may work. "Or maybe not a blue." Pointing to the morning glory, "That means love in vain."

"..oh, well, it's not in vain." Mathis says with a chuckle as he shakes his head. "Uhm, one of the gorses, then that'll do it." the young man admits with a broad smile. "Been trying to figure out what to say on the note besides you know 'Get well soon'." he admits with a grin as he folds his hands together to watch the woman work.

Phailin gives a nod and pulls the gorse out. So since there will not be a blue represented in the flowers Lin pulls out a blue ribbon to a certain length and than cuts it. She begins to bundle the flowers picked out together with the ribbon, making a pretty display. She asks, "Have you been able to see her since she's been sick? You could always say something like, 'I miss you. I hope these flowers cheer you and that you will get well soon.' " As she works on getting the flowers together there's a smile seen to show she really does enjoy her work. "Unless you think that is to cheesy sounding?" Glancing up when the flowers are done and hands them in his direction, pointing over to where there are small pieces of parchment that can be used as cards. She stands back from the counter and bends some in search for a writing utensil. Once she is successful in finding one that is handed over to him to. "But really I am sure whatever you think of to say she'll appericate it. I don't know anyone who doesn't appericate flowers and words from the heart."

Mathis heads over to where the parchment is, and chuckles. "I guess this is good handwriting practice for my new position." he says with a laugh as he sets about writing the note. "And no, it doesn't cound cheesy at all." he says, a warmness in his cheeks as he leans over to write. "I really appreciate all of this, milady." he offers with a grin.

"Not a problem." Lin assures. In hearing new position she asks, "Your doing something else now? I heard you left the chantry. What is it your endeavoring now?" She begins to clean up the mess that got left behind in gathering flowers and getting them in a order. She gathers the left over flowers and begins to put them in the spots she took them out of, doing her walk once again. But she is attenively listening as he writes.

"From the chantry to the guard.. and now away from there, to Duchess Guardian's assistant." the young man says as Mathis continues to write the note, biting his lip in thought. "Been.. rather busy." he admits as he writes.

"Sounds like it." Lin agrees as she puts the last displaced flower in its rightful space. "I've seen the new Duchess Guardian around but I have not sat down with her and had a conversation with her. I do know she's my beloved's sister in law. So I guess when we do finally marry I'll be related to her somewhat." Shaking her head some when she thinks on that and processes it. Once she is done she returns to the counter and asks, "Is there anything else I can do for you? I assume you wanted to personally deliever these flowers yourself?"

Mathis laughs a little. "Somedays I wonder if all the royalty is related some way in another, milady." he admits with a shake of his head. He pauses for a moment, "How has Miss Rosette been?" he asks finally, as he glances over. "Uhm, if you don't mind, I'd actually like these to be delivered for a change." he admits. "I'll see Khalani soon enough, but I'd want her to get these post haste."

"Well Miss Rosette sat with Liam and I at council the other night. But it was the first I had seen her. My sister Bee had sent her to Mists for a time. I did not have a conversation with the girl so I do not know how she has been. But she seems to be her usual self." Giving a shrug. She looks his way and says, "I'll get Hans to deliever the flowers for the baroness. I am sure it will make her quite happy in recieving them. That is quite thoughtful of you after all."

"Thank you, milady." Mathis says, bowing his head as he takes out a few gold pieces and silver. "..how much do I owe you?" he asks, looking towards Phailin in thought.

Phailin looks over at what he has in his hand and takes what would be the apporiate amount and hands him back the change. Player is to lazy to figure it out all icly afterall. :P "About that much." Turning some to place the coins she has in her hand in a safe box. "Thank you for coming by. It made for a dreary day, brighter." Lips upturned as she says this.

The smile that responds to Phailin is nothing short of brilliant. "Thank you!" he says brightly as Mathis tucks his hands back into his mittens. "You're the one that's doing the service after all. Have a good day, milady - and I hope you get a lot more business in such a wonderful shop." he says with a bow before he turns to head out.

"Thank you, Mathis!" Lin calls out and gives a wave to him. "Try to stay warm! I hope to see you soon!" Saying that in a chuckle as she moves over to Hans to tell him what it is she wants him to do.
